Florida solar Energy Center

Florida solar energy center or FSEC Energy Research Center is the state’s premier energy research center. It was created by the Florida Legislature in the year 1975. The aim was to test and certify solar systems. Today, the FSEC is administered by the University of Central Florida.

Due to the immense FSEC’s research capabilities, that has increased manifold since the years it has been formed, Florida Solar Energy Center has gradually outgrown its solar name. Now, the Center is getting rebranded as the FSEC Energy Research Center at the University of Central Florida. It aims to conduct many more types of research with enhanced capabilities.

Talking about the mission of this organization, it remains to be the same for several years. FSEC's mission is to research and develop energy technologies to enhance Florida’s and the entire country’s economy and environment. They also aim to make the public, students, and practitioners aware of the results they get in the research.

FSEC Energy Research Center has an experience of more than 40 years in renewable energy systems and building science. The Center has about 70 members that include thorough professionals who are experts in the fields such as engineering, energy, research, building science, policy analysis, education, and training.

Research at the FSEC is conducted based on field monitoring, computer simulations, and controlled experiments. They have well-equipped laboratories. As FSEC conducts extensive research, it gets extreme appraisals and acceptance nationally and internationally. Their work in the fields of performance buildings, Solar technologies, Hydrogen and fuel cells, Electric vehicles, Energy systems and storage, K-12 Education and Continuing Education, etc. are recognized.
